Q:
What is a doula and how can you help?
A: A doula provides continuous, non-medical support during major life transitions. I offer emotional, physical, and informational guidance for both birth and end-of-life experiences, helping you and your loved ones feel supported, empowered, and heard.
Q:
Why hire a doula?
A: A doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during major life transitions. For birth, I help you feel empowered, informed, and supported, assisting with comfort techniques, advocacy, and guidance. For postpartum or end-of-life support, I offer steady presence, practical help, and reassurance to navigate complex emotions and decisions.
Q:
Why me?
A: I am a solo provider committed to offering consistent, compassionate support from start to finish. This means you’ll have a single, reliable presence who knows your story, understands your needs, and can adapt care to your unique journey — whether it’s welcoming a new life or honoring the close of one.
Q:
When should I hire a doula?
A: For birth support, the earlier the better — ideally in the second trimester — so we have time to build trust, create a birth plan, and prepare for labor. For end-of-life support, it’s best to reach out as soon as possible so we can plan for the emotional and practical needs of the individual and family.
Q:
Will you replace my partner or support person?
A: Absolutely not. My role is to complement your partner or support team, not replace them. I provide additional expertise, emotional support, and comfort techniques so your loved ones can participate fully while knowing that you have a dedicated professional guiding the process.
Pregnancy & Birth Questions

Q:
What stages of birth do you support?
A: I provide care throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. This includes birth planning, comfort techniques during labor, emotional support, postpartum guidance, and connecting you with resources for knowledge outside of my scope of practice.
Q:
Do I have to give birth in a hospital for you to support me?
A: No. I support families in a variety of settings, including hospitals, birth centers, homes, and other birthing environments. My goal is to provide continuous, personalized care wherever your birth or transition takes place.
Q:
Your contract says you’ll be on call 36–42 weeks of gestation. What happens if I give birth outside of that?
A: I provide the most support during your expected delivery window, but if your baby arrives slightly early or late, I do my best to adjust and be present whenever possible. Flexibility is key, and we’ll discuss contingency plans to ensure you feel supported no matter what.
Q:
What happens if I go into labor and you’re not available?
A: While I strive to be present for every birth, emergencies can arise. I have a wonderful backup team that you will be introduced to prior to your birth. I also help prepare birth plans and offer strategies to ensure your labor is supported, even if I cannot be there physically.
Q:
What is your approach to pain management during labor?
A: I support a range of pain management strategies, tailored to your preferences. This may include breathing and relaxation techniques, positioning, massage, hydrotherapy, and guidance for medicated options. My role is to help you make informed choices and provide comfort throughout your labor experience.
Q:
Do you offer services for both natural and medicated births?
A: Yes. I honor all birth choices and provide support for both natural and medicated births. My goal is to empower you, help you navigate decisions, and ensure you feel safe, supported, and respected throughout your labor and delivery.
